Brothers,
Brother Danny Wyatt recently reported the passing of Brother Jim Vickers of Beta Psi Chapter. Here’s what Brother Danny had to say about Brother Vickers:
A bigger than life smile and persona Brother Jim “Diamond Jim” Vickers, a graduate of Prince George high school arrived at Richard Bland College in the fall of ’71. He joined up with the fledgling Gamma Psi before and at Beta chapter’s acceptance on campus. Jim was all in as a Gamma brother always leading with that smile even if flashing it just before his fist came out. Jim was always bigger than life. The better example of that was when he flew his wedding party and guest to witness his marriage to Jane in Hawaii. Jim’s success in Northern Virginia, Winchester area, is legendary as is his legacy as a great Gamma brother. Love you brother, now and forever. I will always see that smile and hear your laughter.
Brother Johnnie Smith of Beta psi Chapter added this:
I met Brother Jim around 1968 at Prince George High School. First thing I noticed about him was his big wide smile, it seemed all the young women loved it as well. It was evident he was GDP material. As I remember he was a stellar “goat”. He knew our History and was always up to a challenge. Gary Swain (Beta Psi) was one of Jim’s best friends and described him as a great friend and great Brother. Jim was a JMU fan and you know he’s happy with their Football team. Jim was very active in the Winchester community . He was a great father, grandfather and husband. He’ll be missed by his family and the Brothers of Gamma Delta Psi. God bless his family . I’m sure Jim has got his hammer and ruler out and building something up above.
